Welcome to Sloughhouse Area
Genealogical Society. Sloughhouse (pronounced 'slew
house') lies at the foot of the Gold Country foothills just east of Sacramento,
California. From our area we can see the lights of the
Valley and the snow capped peaks of the Northern Sierra's. We hope you find our site useful and enjoyable.
We are a member of the Genealogical and Historical Council of the Sacramento Valley. Members in our group are researching many different families; currently there are nearly 200 surnames that are actively being researched. Please browse our list of surnames and queries; your surnames may be ours. Our group has logged and transcribed inscriptions from local area cemeteries; there are approximately 500 surnames listed.
Sloughhouse Area Genealogical Society shall help provide assistance in learning how to preserve family history; shall aid in the understanding of available resources for research purposes; and, shall help to promote interest in the preservation and study of family origins.
"SAG'S" is pleased to announce we have added a query message board on GenConnect. If you have a local area ancestor please feel free to post your query for others to see. There are also GenConnect boards for Biographies, Wills and Obituaries. We hope to soon fill up those pages with information about local area settlers. If you have information about a Sloughhouse area or Eastern Sacramento County ancestor's biography, obituary or will, pleasefeel free to email us and we will post to the applicable area.
You may post the information yourself or email us and we will post the information for you.
Important
note: These boards are for the use of individuals seeking Sloughhouse
area
or Eastern Sacramento County ancestors. Those areas include, Sloughhouse, Wilton,
Elk Grove, Sheldon, Michigan Bar, Rancho Murieta, Latrobe, Perkins, Florin, etc.
Some other Sacramento County queries or other information may be permitted.
Queries that are for information out of our area may be removed. Queries with
invalid email addresses will be removed. Thank you in advance for your information
and cooperation.
The USGenWeb Project
We strongly support the USGenWeb Project and their efforts. The USGenWeb project is an ongoing effort to make genealogical research material as available as possible. Several efforts include online census, cemetery information, etc. Every state, and nearly every county, has a site. The USGenWeb is a non-profit organization and is here to help us all. Many of the state and county archives are available for viewing at Rootsweb. Take time to visit the sites.
The USGenWeb Tombstone Project
Visit the USGW Tombstone Project and see what the volunteers are doing. Our own group member, Peg Cronk is the California Tombstone Project State Manager. See what you can do to help contribute to California's Tombstone Project
