On February 22, 2001, the lower level of the Katy Geissert Torrance Civic Center Library, including the room housing the South Bay Cities Genealogical Society's holdings was dedicated. The Society's holdings are now available whenever the Torrance Civic Center Library is open.

SBCGS's collection has been built over the last 20+ years. The collection is owned and maintained by the Society, for use by anyone interested in family research. Our current holdings include books related to Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, Tennessee, the Carolinas, Pennsylvania, and New York. Books related to southern, mid-Atlantic, and mid-Western states, are on our shelves as well. The books are augmented by a very significant number of periodicals, which represent genealogical publications from almost every state, and some foreign countries.

Volunteers are available to assist members and the general public on the following schedule: Every Tuesday and Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and the third Wednesday of the month from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
