INTRODUCTION TO OUR

 GENEALOGY PERIODICALS

This periodical list is an updated inventory of what was on the shelf in the summer of 1996. Since this collection is a combination of subscriptions, donations, and exchanges with other societies, we can’t guarantee what future issues we will receive. Generally speaking, any title that shows receipt in 1996 can reasonably be expected to continue on through the year.

Please ignore the fact that Roman numerals and Arabic numerals seem to be interchangeable. Many times periodical numbering schemes go back and forth between the several times over a period of years. Also, when we began binding the periodicals so they would stand on the shelf better, the major effort was to get them bound and back on the shelf, not how accurate we were in representing the numbering system used.

As a general rule, older issues of many titles were moved to storage. These storage items have been inventoried and are listed in the database. We have printed out this combined list to show holdings in both locations. We have subscribed to some new titles and receive new donations that are now on the shelves. We will update the list with an addendum page from time to time and announce them in the New Arrivals list in the SCCH&GS newsletter.

The inventory is arranged by categories as the periodicals are arranged on our shelves: The inventory is now in a pdf version and requires Adobe Reader which is available free from Adobe.
