The index to the property owners and
township lists of Thompson and West's "Historical Atlas Map of Solano
County" merits some explanation. Every attempt was made to exception
of property outside of Solano County. First, a list of the township abbreviations
is as follows:

Each map was numbered by the PAGE number in the original book and is so
referred to in the index. For example the map found on page 50 of the
original book is listed as PAGE 50 in the index. Each map is then divided
into four sections to make the location of a property owner more easily
found. The section are A B C and D.
Be certain to check each name for different spellings. There were mistakes
in the original work and every effort was made to make this index true
to the text. Also check the initials of the person that you are researching--Some
property is under the initials specially if it was a small parcel. For
example, John Lemon might have a small piece of property as JL in the
index.
One other explanation is necessary--entries of more than one time on a
page. This will be found if the property owner was listed as the owner
on more than one piece of land on the page.
