CLASSES
OFFERED BY THE

SAN DIEGO GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY

The San Diego Genealogical Society offers a variety of opportunities to learn about genealogy research and improve genealogical research knowledge and skills.  Learning opportunities include beginning genealogy classes, user group meetings, monthly meetings with guest lecturers and a variety of genealogy research trips. These educational avenues are available to members and the public.

BEGINNING GENEALOGY CLASSES

A series of four beginning genealogy classes is offered by the San Diego Genealogical Society on a continual and revolving basis.  Interested persons may join the classes at any time. Classes are free and open to the public. Class size is limited and advance registration is requested (but not required).  To register, or for more information, email or telephone (858) 279-7347.

The classes are designed for people who have not done genealogical research before, but who are interested in getting started.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a notebook (for taking notes and holding handouts) and any records they already have on themselves, their parents and grandparents.

The classes are held at 10 a.m. on the 2nd Saturday of the month (March through October) at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 8350 Lake Murray Blvd. (at the corner of Jackson Drive), San Diego, California.

The topics for this series of classes are: (Year 2009)

  1. Genealogy Basics (taught March 14th and July 11th)
  2. Census Records (taught April 11th and August 8th)
  3. Vital Records (taught May 9th and September 12th)
  4. Computer Resources (taught June 13th and October 10th)
Classes are held before the regular monthly Society meeting. Attendees are welcome and encouraged to stay for the Society meeting and lectures.
