RESEARCH LIBRARY The extensive
collection of the San Diego Genealogical Society Library is one of the
major genealogical resources in San Diego
County. Housed in approximately 2200 square feet, the SDGS Library
is located at 7343 Ronson Road, Suite O in
San Diego, California.
The library is accessible to members 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. Unrestricted access to the SDGS Library is a benefit of Society membership. The Library is staffed and open to the public on Thursdays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Visitors who are not members of the Society are encouraged to make a donation for their day use of the library. A three dollar minimum is suggested. Computers with high-speed internet access are available for patron use. The SDGS Library's genealogical research collection consists of more than 8,700 titles. Many are multi-volume sets (or example, the 130 volume War of the Rebellion: A Compilation of the Official Records Union and Confederate Armies). The library holds more than 1,000 periodical titles. There are significant holdings of many major genealogical periodicals (for example, The New England Historical and Genealogical Register in bound volumes from 1923 to the present, as well as Volumes 1 (1847) through 148 (1994) on CD with a complete index). The collection also contains quite a number of 'how to' books and periodicals (Family Chronicle, Ancestry, Genealogical Helper and Family Tree Magazine, for example) to help expand and improve your research skills and results.
