The chapter is proud to have been the authors of a very important book published in 1924 entitled "The Valley of San Fernando".  An interesting contribution to the literature of San Fernando Valley history is found between it's covers.

In February 1920, a newspaper article was published asking for persons knowledgeable of any historical fact, or legend of interest, or owning historical papers or pictures to contact the Chapter for the purpose of compiling and publishing a history of the Valley.

Few of the original books survive today.  It was written in 1924 as a joint effort of the early members, many of whom were organizing members of the Chapter and also daughters of the pioneers of this area.

It is with great pride and pleasure that "The Valley of San Fernando" was rededicated and republished in honor of the seventieth anniversary of the San Fernando Valley Chapter.  Our attempts to locate the old photographic plates or the printer proved useless.  Sixty-four years later, the book now is indexed and reproduced as faithfully and as clearly as technology will allow.

This wide valley, and our little town of San Fernando, were both an early focal point and a crossroads in the history of the region and of California.
