
Annie Marshall Wade Young (Mrs. Edward Davis Young)
Real Granddaughter
Born February 27, 1853 at Oxford, Butler County, Ohio; died August 24, 1934, San Fernando, California, and is buried in the Vale of Memory section, Forest Lawn Cemetery at Glendale, California. Her grave bears a DAR marker placed by her family.
Mrs. Young is possessed with a personality that is almost
regal, yet so kindly gracious is she that the most
humble guest feels immediately at home in her presence.

She was the granddaughter of David E. Wade, born 1763, Elizabethtown, New Jersey; died 1842 at Cincinnati, Ohio. He served as a Private in the Essex County, New Jersey, Militia under Captain William Britton; served under Colonel Oliver Spencer in the First Regiment; served on two whale boats; helped capture the British vessel, "Snow"; was taken prisoner twice and confined on the prison ship, "Jersey".
He came down from Elizabethtown on the Ohio River on a flat-boat and was one of the incorporators of Cincinnati in 1802. He was the owner of a tannery in Cincinnati.
Buried near her are her two daughters - Annie Young Ward
and Flora Wade Young Flo - both members of our chapter and real great granddaughters.
