
Lineage and Historical Societies
If you think you have an ancestor who fought or gave material aid during the War Between the States, you may be eligible to join one or more of the following organizations. Even if you don't have an ancestor who participated, but this period of history is of great interest to you, some groups may have associate memberships. of the Civil War Grey - South - Confederate Groups Sons of Confederate Veterans United Daughters of the Confederacy is a benevolent, charitable, educational, historical, memorial and patriotic organization. We give time and energy to a variety of projects, among which are student scholarships, marking or maintaining graves and monuments and projects for our current military veterans. Membership in the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) is by invitation through a local Chapter. You must be a woman at least age 16 and show a blood descendancy from a direct or collateral ancestor who served honorably in the Army, Navy or Civil Service of the Confederate States of America, or gave Material Aid to The Cause. We also have Associate and Honorary memberships for women as well as men. If you think you might have an ancestor who participated in this historical period, please visit the above organizations.
