Robertson, Esq.Secretary of the territory of Orleans, dated 7th day of May, 1810 a copy of which transmitted me by the said Thomas B. Robertson, Esq. Containing instructions to take an account of the several Manufacturing Establishments & Manufactories within this parrish. I thomas G. Lewis, Adjutant under the said Thomas B. Robertson, Secretary as aforesaid do make enumeration as prescribed by the acts of Soninefs relative, have when making that same within the parish made diligent inquiry agreeable to the said letter of instruction. Hereby certify there is employed within the said parish Twenty Six looms making in the course of the year 2305 yards opf cotton cloth of the value of one dollar (per)? yard principally for family consumption. ? Dutch pak for pinning?? wheat. In employ during the pinning season. 5 cotton gins containing 240 Regs or saws 400 spinning machines for cotton yarns containing 8 spools each. Before me the subscriber, one of the territorial Justice of the Peace, in and for the Parrish aforesaid Personally came Thomas C. Lewis who first being duly sworn Saith that having received in ?? last the appointment of affaint under Thomas B. Robertson, Esq. Secretary of the territory aforesaid to make enumeration description of all persons residrd within the parish aforesaid so assigned to the declarant and to make due return thereof, He hath perpeted the same as in the foregoing Schedule will appear to the best of his ability, save the list of persons resdident on the Mississippi river The Walnut Hills from No 1 to No 8 inclusive which is taken from the tax list & private information, which beat he was unable to accomplish by reason of indisposition and the late heavy rains made travel impossiblewithout great danger.
