The first United States Census to include the state of Louisiana was the 1810 Census. The 1810, 1820, and 1830 censuses of Ouachita Parish included the area that is now known as Union Parish. Union Parish was formed from the northwest corner of Ouachita Parish in 1839. Beginning in 1840 the censuses included Union Parish.
