Green ValleyGreen Valley News & Sun, “Genealogy Today” by Betty Malesky  is published monthly. The column focuses on education, research techniques, and current news in the world of genealogy today. California

Colorado

Broomfield — Broomfield Enterprise. A monthly genealogy column by Julie Miller, CG, appears on the Family page the second or third Saturday of the month. Short queries pertaining to genealogy are free. Archived articles can be found at: http://www.dailycamera.com/bdc/brf_ftr_columnists/

Illinois

Champaign — News Gazette. "Illinois Ancestors," by Joan Griffis. Published weekly on Thursday, it is directed to any Illinois reader, but principally in the central counties.
Danville —
Commercial News. "Illinois Ancestors," by Joan Griffis. Published weekly in the Sunday edition and is relevant to readers in east-central Illinois and west-central Indiana.

Indiana 

South Bend — South Bend Tribune. Barbara Harman authors the Michiana Roots genealogy column that appears weekly on the History page in the Sunday Punch Section of this newspaper. She also writes the News and Notes column about area genealogical events and meets. It runs on the Sunday History page also. The South Bend Tribune coverage area includes the northern Indiana counties of St. Joseph County, including the University of Notre Dame, Elkhart, LaPorte, and portions of Starke, Marshall, Lagrange, and Kosciusko counties and the lower Michigan counties of Berrien, Cass, Van Buren, and St. Joseph. The column focuses on local and national genealogical seminars and events, education, and general feature stories of genealogical and historical interest in the coverage area. Past columns are available for viewing. Access the library or archives page and type in a keyword or author's name with a date to access the column. Queries are not accepted for print. Harm also provides private historical and genealogical research and cemetery/homestead photography is available. Include specific information in a query, along with your name, address, phone number and e-mail address. Louisiana

Hammond  — The Sunday Star. (Sunday edition of the Daily Star). A column in two parts — "Relatively Yours" and "Tangi Ancestry Lost & Found," by Phyllis Edwards (under the pen name of Mizzee) is published in the Sunday Star.  The first part is educational and the second part, called Tangi Ancestry Lost & Found, contains queries posted by those searching for their ancestors in the Tangipahoa area of Louisiana (also called the Florida Parishes). The column also appears in the following Louisiana newspapers:
 
Amite Tangi Digest; Kentwood Ledger, and the St. Helen Echo (located in Greensburg).

Ohio

 

Cuyahoga County—Sun Newspapers. "Let's Talk Genealogy" by Diana Crisman Smith appeared twice a month in all editions of the weekly suburban Cleveland newspaper from 2001-2003.  The articles focused on tips and techniques for family research at all skill levels, reviews of helpful resources (both new and established), and announcement of upcoming genealogical events at the local, state and national level.

Oklahoma

Lawton—Lawton Constitution. "Tree Tracers" by Aulena Scearce Gibson, published every Saturday, since September 1979. Queries accepted, but must have a southwest Oklahoma connection.

Oklahoma City—The Daily Oklahoman; "We The People" by Sharon King Burns, published every Monday, since 1975. Queries accepted from submitter living in Oklahoma or submitter living in other states with Oklahoma ancestors, family reunions with Oklahoma ties, Oklahoma Society meetings, or questions about Oklahoma records.

Texas

Victoria — The Victoria Advocate. "Relatively Speaking," by Martha E. Jones, Ph.D., is published each Sunday and is online. Click on "Columns," then "Relatively Speaking" link. Utah

Cache County — Logan Herald Journal. "It's All Relatives,"  by Helen LaRae Free VanderBeek Kerr is a regular column, which is also published from time to time by Magna Times, West Valley News, Kearns Post, Emery County Progress, and Wasatch Wave. Kerr also writes a column for the Desert Saints Magazine of Las Vegas. 

Davis County — Davis County Clipper. "Family History Mysteries," by Carole O. Cole, is a weekly column that features human-interest/research stories as well as how-to information (no queries)

Washington

Clark County — Vancouver Columbian. "Genealogy Today," by  Connie Lenzen, CGRS, is a weekly column that features local resources and repositories, Internet resources, and local happenings. No genealogical queries accepted, but news releases, announcements and suggestions for column topics are welcome via e-mail. It currently appears each Thursday and can be found in the obituary section of the newspaper's website: http://www.columbian.com/   Articles are archived there; do a search for "genealogy." 

Seattle (Ballard) -- The Norwegian American Weekly (formerly the Western Viking) is a weekly bilingual ethnic newspaper bringing the latest news from Scandinavia to America and Canada. The paper reports news from Norway as well as the many Scandinavian communities in North America to an estimated readership of 20,000 per week.  The 117 year old publication is the continuation of  six of the 562 Norwegian newspapers which have existed in America, including Decorah Posten, Ved Arnen, Minnneapolis-Tidende, Minnesota Posten, Washington Posten, Norrøna and Skandiaben, and is published every Friday, mailed to over 20,000 subscribers in 21 countries.

"Emigrant / Immigrant Passages" is a weekly column, written by Luci J Baker Johnson, and provides readers with brief annotated descriptions of recent publications, articles, and books; unique finding aids available to researchers; notes about college and university dissertations; announcements concerning upcoming lectures, workshops, and seminars; brief profiles of who's doing what in relation to Norwegian-American genealogical and historical research; and reprints of relevant historical news items that have appeared in this newspaper during the past 118 years.  Individuals who have pertinent news, announcements or suggestions of column topics are welcome to contact Luci via e-mail. Denmark / Canada

The Danish Pioneer - "Forbindelser," a bi-weekly genealogy column by
Lisa D. Petersen, discusses research in Danish records, internet resources, U.S. and Canadian records where information about Danish immigrants can be found.  Queries published once a month are currently for researchers in Denmark who are seeking lost relatives in the U.S. and Canada.
 

Syndicated Genealogy Columns

United States

Los Angeles Times Syndicate.  (now owned by Tribune Media Service). The  nationally syndicated genealogy column,  Shaking Your Family Tree  by  Myra Vanderpool Gormley, CGSM was published weekly from July 1983 to July 2002. Some older columns are archived at Ancestry.com.
