The communal archives of Berolle has a document identified as VII 3 (and noted as incomplete) consisting of a marriage contract by which Abraham Matille, whose daughter Jeanne has just married Jaques Rochat, grants several parcels of land to his son-in-law.
He is described as "habitant au moulin de Goille au pres de Mollens" in 1675. This designation was added probably to distinguish him from at least two other men of the same name. By 1680, although his child was baptised at Mollens, the baptismal record says he was "habitant au moulin de Ballens". In 1689, still with his wife Judith, he was a miller at the mill of "Gouille". He and his wife were present for the marriage contract of their daughter Susanne 18 feb 1699 to Jean Louis son of Jaques Cuvit of Mollens (Daniel Marmet, notary, ACV DK 69/1).
