His testament dated 16 oct 1598 was recorded in Lausanne by Samuel François, notary (ACV DG 117/1, fol. 4). At that time, he was resided in the home of his "maitre", Pierre Barril. The testament names Janne Curlat, "ma future espouse, advenant que je meure avant elle, d'autant elle est aussy bien attaincte de maladie." But it appears David survived, and his future wife did not, for we find him marrying in Morges a few years later. The testament of 1598 also names his sisters Susanne, wife of Samuel Gaudin of Morges, and Jeanne, wife of Jean Vuffrey of Morges.
