A long document of George Banquettaz, notary at Payerne, mentions her in the context of a complicated list of people who have inherited from the late Esperance Blan, daughter of the late Guillaume Blan and Elizabeth Dethuerie (the latter the daughter of the late Jean Dethuerie and the late Marie Chantallet) (ACV PD 6/1, 02 jan 1571). Perhaps Marie Chantallet was an aunt of Françoise. Jean Dethuerie can be identified with the notary Jean de Thury or Dethueriez who records survive from 1543-1547 (FHL microfilm #0998009).

Probably the son of the Johannes Chantallet whose testament of 26 jun 1518 contains ecclesiastical donations and is preserved at the archives of Payerne (G 8). Oddet is cited in 1543 as a member of the council of Payerne.
He appears as the object of a donation by Amédée Andrion, apothecary and bourgeois de Genève, 23 feb 1525 (Claude Compois, notary), at which time he is noted as alias Gronod, bourgeois de Payerne (at Payerne, the alias is Gurrivoz—perhaps the spelling in Geneva is simply a misunderstanding of this name). In this transaction, Andrion conveys to him a debt of 140 florins, 15 sols, part of a larger sum due from Jaques son of Pierre Caval of the parish of Grissung, diocese of Aosta (recorded by Varin Pierre Lustreni, notary of Ayax, 13 may 1520). The transaction is witnessed by Jean Chevroz bourgeois de Payerne (Chantallet's father-in-law), Jean Michel, banneret de Payerne, and Eg. Henri Aubert, notary of Geneva. The relationship between Andrion and Chantallet, if any, has not been discovered.
An earlier Oddet "de Gruyera alias Chantallet" made a testament in 1491 at Payerne (cited in the inventory of the city archives).
Very likely she was a relative, if not the daughter of the prévôt Nicolas Chapelier, whose epitaphe at the church of Gerbéviller, before 1569, is cited as follows (Henri Gelin, "Inscriptions Huguenotes", BSHPF 43:199-223):
If Nicolas Chapelier had really functioned as "bon serviteur" for a period of 60 years, he must have been well over 70 when he died. He would have been from the generation before Annon Chapellier (from the dates of her children, she was probably born in the 1530's). It is entirely plausible that Nicolas had served for many years as Prévôt, and that his son-in-law Martin Gerberon became his successor in this office. The date of the inscription has not been determined, but it must prior to the death of Olry du Châtelet, May, 1569, at the battle of La Charité-sur-Loire, on the side of the protestant forces, and it must also be after the marriage of Olry to Jeanne de Scépeaux, 1555. The three Seigneurs under which Nicolas Chapelier served would have been Hue de Châtelet and his wife Magdelaine Wisse (who inherited the seigneurie of Gerbéviller), their son Pierre du Châtelet and his wife Bonne de Bandoche (or Baudoche?), and in turn, their son Olry.

1850 Census: Prairie Tp., Davis Co., IA, p. 305, with sons Joel, William, Hugh D., and John. Her other children and their spouses are nearby, except for Reuben, who was probably in California at the time. Her estate was admitted to probate in October, 1853.
Perhaps actually born in Adams Co., OH, as some accounts suggest, but 1850 census gives her birthplace as Kentucky. Exact date from "family record" transcribed for estate's military bounty land warrant application.
Date of death is given in the probate records of Davis Co., IA.
marriage book 2, p. 57, and marriage license book 2, dated 15may1815.
