"Bastien" and François DuBrit, brothers, married on 28 apr 1635 at Moudon to Claudine Richard and Magdelaine Burnand. We strongly suspect that the Burnand genealogy, among others, has confused two Claudines, Claudine Pivard and Claudine Richard, or else two women named Claudine Richard. Exactly where one's life ends and the other begins, we have not yet established. The fact that the DuBrit brothers married in 1635 leads us to wonder if the two brides would have been about the same age, but this plan for estimating the age of the wife of Sébastien DuBrit fails because the baptism of the other bride, Magdelaine Burnand, has not been found. Logic would suggest that Magdelaine would have been the sister of Claudine's previous husband Daniel Burnand, but he is not known to have any siblings.

Working out the DuBrit family, to find out how the various family members who married into the Dutoit family are related, will be difficult. There may have been as many as 3 Sebastien DuBrits!
There is considerable confusion about his family. The baptism of Louise Judith, probably his daughter, lists the mother as Elizabeth Clement, but there does not seem to be another Sébastien Dubrit baptising children in that period. Until further evidence is found, we are treating "Elizabeth Clement" as a scribal error. He was probably the Sébastien Dubrit who is the subject of the death record of 22 sep 1730: "Sebastien Dubrit de Moudon trouvé mort sous un chesne d'où il estoit tombé, le vendredi 22e 7bre 1730 trouvé dis-je Pasteur le Samedy et ensuitte enseveli le Dimanche."
Apparently a sister of Claudine DuBrit, in order that her husband, Abraham Jossevel, could be the brother-in-law of the notary Isaac Dutoit.
