Was this the notary? Or another man of the same name? The marriage is clear, Michel son of Claude Frossard. The fact that Michel son of Claude married Elizabeth, daughter of the notary and secrétaire de Moudon Jean Jaquier or Jaqueri seems to prove the case. This and similar offices were often passed to the son-in-law in this period, because the most senior of the clerks working in the office of the secrétaire often married his master's daughter. Some of the baptisms at Moudon give enough information to distinguish which children belong to which Michel. He is named as an heir of his brother the late Discret Pierre Frossard whose widow Sarraz has married Gaspard Dutey, 15 aug 1599 (Jaques Richard, notary at Moudon).

A document recorded 16-17 oct 1690 (Isaac Dutoit, notary at Moudon, ACV DL 37/2) concerns a sale by Pierre Dutoit, officier de ville de Moudon, in the name of Marie Frossard his wife, in favor of Esther Frossard her sister, currently the wife of the Judge (Denis) Burnand, with Pierre Gavin her (Esther's) son. The wording is somewhat ambiguous, but clearly connects Esther and Marie as sisters. This document helps establish which children belong with this Pierre Frossard. However, there are many conflicting opinions concerning the relationships of these families. Some of these opinions might have come from early genealogies of the Frossard family. At least three such genealogies are noted in the bibliography of Mario von Moos, but we have not had an opportunity to examine any of them.
The marriage of Pierre Frossard and Marie Burnand, widow Roberti, is recorded 02 dec 1643.
Other documents, such as several recorded by Philippe Burnand, notary at Moudon, show that the same Esther Frossard married Denis Burnand.
A David Frossard, son of the late Pierre, was still alive as late as 1711, and may belong here.
Noted as brother of David son of the late Isaac Frossard of Le Plan in a transaction recorded by Abraham Faucherre, notary at Moudon (ACV DL 40/2, 12 nov 1663), a partage with Jean and Abraham, sons of the late David Frossard of Bussy.

He may have been the minister Pierre Frossard, admitted to the Académie de Lausanne in 1634, who later served at Cotterd and Morat. No proof of the parentage of this minister has yet been found, but the records of the notaries of the district of Avenches have not yet been searched. Most students at the Académie in the 17th and 18th Centuries seem to have been admitted when they were 13-15 years old.
