Even though the account of von Roth says David married Benedicta Wysshahn, the death date given by Niklaus Gatschet in his family book seems to preclude such a marriage.
His uncle Nyclaus Gaschet sold property at Cully on his behalf 11 nov 1580 (Simon Pierre Chalon, notary, ACV DI 22/2, fol. 148v-151v) to Noble Anthoyne Chalon.

Banneret of Payerne 1659-1660 and Avoyer 1660 -1678. Also a notary. Although he would have been very young for marriage, he must be the one who married Jeanne Dessibord in 1640. He may also have been the David Gachet who married Anne Comte in 1638. The church records of Payerne appear to be incomplete in this period, or else this family baptised their children in another parish. The only other solution would be that there was a second, later Jeanne Dessibord who also married an older David Gachet that has so far escaped detection, a possibility we consider unlikely. It is possible that this is the same David who married Anne Comte, who died soon after, and whose father settled with David Gachet regarding restitution of her dowry in 1642. A marriage at age 15 would probably not be impossible, but it would be extremely unusual at that time. Such a marriage would be slightly more likely if his father had already died, since his family would try to get as many of the children as possible out of the household, and he would have at least limited access to the proceeds of his father's estate.
There is a settlement relating to the dowry after the death of Anne Comte, daughter of Pierre, wife of David Gachet, 30 nov 1642 (Samuel Marcuard, notary at Payerne, ACV DP 63/1). The present David had already remarried, if his first wife was indeed Anne Comte. In that case he would have been exceptionally young, and his wife several years his senior.
He died before 11 may 1680, when his son Noble David Gachet sold property to Gabriel Marcuard in the name of his son Jean Marcuard whose mother was the late Salomé de Trey, with the advice of Madame de Trey, Gabriel's mother-in-law. The property was "tout son tenement de la Breytonneyre", "le tout en la mesme forme que feu d'heureuse memoire Monsr. L'Advoyer Gachet l'a heu possedé", for the price of 50 écus. The document, recorded by Samuel Comte, notary at Payerne (ACV DP 21/1), clearly says David Gachet, but the Marcuard genealogy says the seller in this transaction was Daniel Gachet.
We might wonder, in fact, if we have correctly identified his baptism. Could it be that the one we read as David should actually be Daniel, and vice versa? If that were the case, he would now be of a reasonable age to have married first Anne Comte, then Jeanne Dessibord, and finally Marie du Moulin.

He was Avoyer of Payerne on several occasions (alternating with a member of the Rouge family), 1695-1698, 1701-1704, 1707-1710, 1713-1716, and 1719-1722. He was also banneret of Payerne 1693-1695. Identified as the son of the late Advoyer in a document dated 05 feb 1679, Samuel Golliez, notary at Payerne (ACV DP 47/2). This document says that David Conte (b. 1627, later Avoyer) was his god-father.
Through his wife, he was one of the heirs to the Logis de l'Ours at Payerne. Transactions among the heirs are found in the registers of several notaries.

Information from Petitpierre's Patrie Neuchateloise (1935) says that Denise Gachet daughter of Jean Gachet and Denise Regnault married a Muriset. A document of Jean Ballif, notary at Payerne 30 aug 1583 shows that Marguerite Morizet wife of Jean Jacquier of Moudon and Jean Morizet of Romont have a hereditary interest in land owned jointly with Jean Gachet, whose late wife was Denise Regnault and whose son is Josué Gachet.
If Marguerite and Jean Morizet are children and heirs of this Denise Gachet, we must put their birthdates about 1555 or earlier, and consequently Denise Gachet's birthdate around 1535. Moreover, another coheir appears to be Claude Gachet, not named by Petitpierre. From the fact that the parents of Marguerite and Jean Morizet are not mentioned and that they appear to be equal coheirs with Josué, we surmise that Denise Gachet was already dead by 1583.
We have not ruled out that Petitpierre was mistaken and that Denise Gachet never existed!

François is also identified as the father of Pierre Gachet in Pierre's marriage contract and in the subsequent acknowledgement of the receipt of the dowry. A document of Pierre Moron (père), notary at Payerne, dated 12 feb (?) 1483 indicates François Gaschet acknowledges payment of funds promised in his marriage contract, received from Bartholomé Challon, brother of his wife Jaqueta and son of the late Nicod Challon of Lutry.

Appears as adult son of Pierre in 1543. A few references to his marriage and at least two daughters have been found, but there is still considerable uncertainty about his life. The "tuteurs testamentaires" of his daughter Magdelaine are listed, only a few days after his death, as Gabriel de Prez, Sr. de Corsier, and Nicod Morattel (document in the Archives Communales de Payerne, EB 1, dated 05 nov 1575, recorded by Benoit Nible, and also found in the registers of that notary on microfilm). From the circumstances of his death, we suppose his testament was recorded at Lutry.
He died at the house of Noble Aymé de Prez, Sr. de Corcelles-le-Jorat. N. Aymé de Prez has the distinction of being the father of the wife of Isbrand Daux, who used his office of bourgmaîstre de Lausanne in a plot to deliver the city into the hands of the Duke of Savoie in December, 1588. The plot, known in French as "la conjuration d'Isbrand Daux," was discovered at the last minute, but Daux and a number of other conspirators, including N. François de Prez, son of Aymé, were able to escape into Savoie. It has always been supposed that there were other conspirators or supporters of the plot whose names have never come to light. (See the article of Maxime Reymond, "La conjuration d'Isbrand Daux", published in several installments in Revue historique vaudoise, volumes 24-25, 1916-1917.) Gabriel de Prez must have been another son of Aymé de Prez, and after his descendants sold their claim to Corsier-sur-Lutry and other fiefs, and the fief of Corcelles-le-Jorat was confiscated from François de Prez for his part in the conspiracy, the de Prez family seems to have retired to Savoie permanently. The house of the de Prez family, dating from 1421, if not earlier, still stands, in the north section of the old "bourg" of Lutry.
We are left with an interesting question, was N. François Gachet another brother-in-law of Isbrand Daux? Was the second wife of François Gachet also a de Prez? (Reference not yet examined: Frédéric-Théodore Dubois, "Les descendants des sires de Prez", Annales Fribourgeoises, 4:69-70, 1916.)
There is today a domain and vineyard at Mur, Fribourg, known as the Château de Mur, that was owned in the early 1600's by Samuel von Erlach and the Gachet family. It is most likely that this fact is connected with the marriage of Samuel von Erlach to Magdelaine Gachet, whose parentage has not been proved. However, we think that a document recorded by Jean Amey Bondu (ACV DP 11/3, 02 dec 1574) comes very close. The document involved Bernard Jacquier, residing at Mur "en la mayson de Noble Françoys Gachet", renting two cows from him for the term of three years. Unless another of the Gachet family also owned property there, Magdelaine should be his daughter.
François seems to have spent many years acquiring property. He had at least two houses in the vicinity of Lutry, as well as many other parcels of land. Records of his transactions are scattered through the registers of the notaries. Probably much more could be learned from these transactions and from the "terriers". One document, recorded 09 mar 1582 at Cully (Claude de Place, notary, ACV DI 48/12), concerns a sale by Egrège Nycod Moratel, notary and bourgeois of Payerne, acting as "contuteur" (co-guardian) of Noble Magdeleyne, daughter of the late Noble François Gaschet, of a vineyard, to Jaques Beboz. This piece of property had been sold originally by Anthoine son of Pierre Lyn of Epesses to Discret Jean Chevrod of Payerne on 09 apr 1501, recorded by Discret Jehan de Turiaco (Jean de Thuery). In this case, we can see how the property found its way into the hands of Magdelaine: her father's first wife was Collette du Moulin, whose mother Isabel Chevrod was the daughter of Jean Chevrod. Although François Gachet had a daughter by his first wife, the daughter had long since died and any estate had reverted to François and then to his sole surviving heir, Magdelaine. This document, like all of those discovered so far, does not mention the name of Magdelaine's mother. However, if her mother brought any dowry into her marriage with François Gachet, her name will inevitably turn up in connection with the settlement of his estate.
According to the family book of Niklaus Gatschet, his brother: "starb myn bruoder Franziskus Gachet in edibus dom. (?) Aymonis (?) de Prez Lustriaci."

From the information in the Dictionnaire Historique de la Suisse (online edition), it would appear that Isabel's mother must have been Denise Regnauld, not Marguerite Vallier. Therefore, it is possible that one or more of the other sisters are also children of Denise, and not of Vallier. The dates of first marriage, if they can be found, may be the best evidence in this regard. It is possible the date has been seriously misquoted, or that Isabel was very young at the time of her marriage.

Identified as "Nobla Jacobe Gachet" in a document of Jean Amey Bondu, 1578. It is not known if she survived her husband, but probably not, as she would likely have been listed as their "mère tutrice" in documents relating to her husband's heirs. Her testament was recorded by the same notary 31 may 1584, at which time she had three living children, Jean, Pierre, and Marguerite. It is possible she was named after the Jacob Gachet who owned land near Payerne about 1550.
Unfortunately, we have no evidence yet as to which wife of Jean Amey Gachet was the mother of Jacobe.

Her existence, and her settlement with her brother Josué Gachet, are indicated in the following agreement recorded by Denis Pivard, notary at Moudon, 30 dec 1612.

Le penultiesme jour du mois de Decembre l'an de Salut mille six cens et douze, Suivan le compromis faic entre noble Josué Gaschet ancien Avoyer de Payerne d'une part, Et honnorée Jacobé Gaschet sa soeur femme de noble Charles Deplaict banderet de Saint Saphorin d'autre, de soubzmettre leurs difficultés a mes Intelligences au Jugement absolu et diffinittif de noble et puissant Philippe Cerjat, seigneur de Denysiez et d'Allemand, Chastelain de Moudon, et d'honnorable et prudent Abraham Bize banderet et Guillaume Demierre Conseiller dudit Moudon, Avecq promesses d'observer ledit Jugement pour diffinittif et Inviolable sans recours (?) de Justice ny au Souverain ainsy qu'est apparu par l'acte dudict compromis Daté du vingtroisiesme de novembre dernier et de la rattiffication d'icelluy faicte par ledict noble Charles Deplaict signé par Egrege Antoine Morelle treiziesme du present mois. Les prenomméz Sieurs Arbitres estants assemblés a l'instance desdites parties assistées d'une partie de leurs parens et amis, Ont (apres l'Invocation du nom de Dieu) entendu lesdictes difficultés et mes intelligences et sur chacun poinct d'Icelles rendu leur sentence et Jugement comme s'ensuict:
Premierement sur la demande qu'a faice ladicte Jacobé audict Seigneur Josué Gaschet son frere de luy faire loyal partage de tous les biens delaisséz par feu noble Jehan Gachet leur pere, avecq offre de rapporter en precompte ce qu'elle peut avoir receu desdits biens, Ouyes aussi les differences dudict Seigneur Josué, notamment le contenu d'une prononciation faicte cy devant, entre honnorée Catherine Maillard mere de ladite Jacobé d'une part, et ledict Noble Josué Gaschet et Pierre Moratel tuteur de Pierre Gaschet son frere d'autre, par laquelle estoyent ordonné a ladicte Catherine pour toutes pretentions presentes et advenir sur les biens meubles et immeubles delaissés par ledict feu noble Jehan Gaschet son mary, Assavoir tous et singuliers leurs biens meubles et immeubles bestail et autres choses a eux appartenantes existantes au village de Dompnaloye et lieux circonvoyans (?) a condition neantmoins que venant ladicte Jacobé sa fille au sainct estat de mariage, la jouissance de la moytié desdits biens luy debvroit appartenir, Ont lesdits Sieurs Jugé qu'en vigueur de la jouissance apprehendée desdicts biens par ladicte Jacobé lors qu'elle est parvenue audict estat de mariage Et par elle du depuis continuée Jusques a present, Elle a par ce moyen accepté le contenu de ladicte prononciation, laquelle par consequence demeure en sa force et vigueur sans qu'elle puisse pretendre autre partage contre sondict frere desdits biens paternels.
Quant aux articulations par ledict Sieur Josué Gaschet produicts de plusieurs despends qu'il afferme havoir supporttéz pour sadite soeur tant pour la maintenance dudict bien de Dompneloye que pour sa suitte d'ung proces contre noble Peterman d'Erlach Seigneur de Bioley et autres despends contenus esdits articulations, Comme aussy pour ce qu'il pretendoit luy havoir esté alloué en la discution des biens de sadicte soeur audict Dompneloye, Lesdicts Seigneurs considerans le debvoir de fraternité dudit Seigneur de la deffendation qu'elle pretend avoir receue en ce que luy debvoir appartenir desdits biens paternels, Ont jugé qu'elle seroit entierement Quitté et exempte desdicts articulations sans qu'elle en puisse aucunement estre recerchée par sondict frere.
Au regard de ce que ledict Sieur Josué Gaschet demandoit que sadicte soeur fut tenue de desgraver de la somme de Onze cens quarante six florins vers les Sieurs de Cheires par lesquels il en recerche comme bientenant de deux ouviriers de Vigne cy devant soubastéz a feu noble Abraham Degraffiez premier mary d'icelle par Denis Bel de Grandvaux, Aquel il a fourny les deniers pour reemption desdits subastations a la requeste de sadicte soeur comme il pretend faire apparoir par missive d'icelle, lesdicts Sieurs trouvans que ladicte Jacobé s'est onques obligée audict Denis Bel de la somme contenue esdites subastations, Ce que ledict Seigneur Josué n'a delivré a elle mesme ny a gens de son nom ny par son commandement les denier [requis?] par ladicte missive estre envoyés, Ont Jugé et sentencue que ladicte Jacobé demeurera aussy irrecerchable (?) de ce poinct, Laissant audict Seigneur Josué Gaschet son recours contre les biens dudit feu Abraham Degraffiez ou les possessions d'iceux comme par droict conviendra.
Ont aussy lesdits Sieurs ordonné que lesdites parties supporteront esgalement les despendz faictz ce jourd'huy a cause du present arrest, lequel ils ont commandé au notaire soubzsigné de dresser en cest forme pour l'expedier auxdites parties soubz la corroboraiton du cachet dudict Seigneur de Denysy. Datté et faict les an et jour premis.
