Her name is written very clearly in the church records at Nyon, even though she is not mentioned in the traditional genealogy as a wife of Niklaus Gatschet. It is possible that the pastor misunderstood her name and that she was indeed the same Maria Megger. The church records at Oron show Niklaus and his wife Maria Megger on several occasions from 1635 through 1639, but no children baptised there. It is very likely that several more children were born, their baptisms still not discovered.

Surname is Wunderlich in German. He was a citizen of Neuchâtel and Berne, and Châtelain de Thiele. Alexandre Daguet ("Essai sur Georges de Rive seigneur de Prangins, second gouverneur de Neuchâtel (1529-1552) et ses relations avec l'avoyer Faulcon (Falk) de Fribourg (1516-1519)," Musée Neuchâtelois, 19:57-64, 100-104, 124-128, 1882) says he was a cousin of Peter Falck, citing correspondence in which he calls Peter his brother (the informal or honorific use of "mon frère" seems to have been very common in personal correspondence of the time, but it seems to be based on a relationship of blood or marriage). This is certainly possible, since the ancestry of Peter Falck is not completely known.
The ancestry of Hans Merveilleux is here given tentatively based on secondary source that we have not verified. We follow Pierre-Arnold Borel in most respects.
