Christian was baptized in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, 22 November 1768, in Rathen Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Rathen, 1764-1790, Page 118 "Nov'r 22d (1768) Allex'r Henderson (540) in (hou______?) had a daughter baptized Called Christian (531) Wm Scot Jas Henderson witnefses”.1 She was the daughter of Alexander Henderson and Elizabeth Laing.

There were many references to a Christian Henderson receiving Session distributions, many were for 1s & 10p. It is not known if the distributions were made to this particular Christian Henderson. It is a common name in the area.

The baptismal record of an unknown person documented Christian Henderson as the mother, 10 February 1793, in Rathen Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Sessions, Parish of Rathen, 1770-1800, Feb 10, 1793, “Sef's met Comp'o Ch'n Henderson (531), an unmarried woman, and laid a Child to the charge of Wm. Cheyne (521), an unmarried man, who having Comp'd, owned the Charge and both were reproved and dismissed. Penalty from Wm. Cheyne 9s.”.2

Christian Henderson married William Cheyne 17 September 1796, in accordance with the procedures of the Church of Scotland, in Rathen Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Marriages, Parish of Rathen, 1742-1819, "17th Sep'r (1796) Wm. Cheyne (521) and Ch'n Henderson (531) both in this Parish married.”.4

Christian Cheyne and Elizabeth Cheyne were listed as in the household of William Cheyne on the 1841 British Census, at Park, in Lonmay Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was his wife, listed as age 72, and born in Aberdeenshire.5,6

Christian H. Cheyne was in the household of John Copland and his wife, Elizabeth C. Copland, and listed as mother-in-law on the 1851 British Census, at Park, in Lonmay Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was a widow, 82 years of age, born in Rathen Parish and a resident.7

Christian Cheyne was in the household of John Copland and his wife, Elizabeth Copland, and listed as mother-in-law on the 1861 British Census, at Southpark, in Lonmay Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was listed as a shoemaker's widow, age 94.8

Christian Cheyne died 27 March 1865 at 9:30 PM, of infirmities of age, at South Mains of Park in Lonmay Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The death record listed her a Christian Cheyne, widow of William Cheyne, shoemaker. She was 98 years of age. John Copland (549), her son-in-law recorded her death. She was the daughter of Alexandre Henderson, stone mason and (Elizabeth) Laing.9,10

Christian Henderson was buried, at Rathen Parish Kirkyard, in Rathen Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. Stone 170. The monumental inscription reads: "Erected by George Cheyne mason in Peterhead in memory of his father William Cheyne sometime shoemaker in Park d. 13 Oct. 1844 aged 77; his mother Christian Henderson d. 27 Mar. 1865 aged 98”..10
