I am looking for any help that I can get in finding our more
information on some of my great grandparents and their parents. John
Hardin (I think John was his middle name, his first name could be
Mark, Daniel, William, or Henry) was born 1/13/1826 in Henry County,
Kentucky. He later moved to Missouri and married Sarah J Hand. They
moved to Larimer County in 1864. They settled in Pleasant Valley,
where he worked for Abner Loomis and B. T. Whedbee until 1865 when his
wife died. He returned to Missouri with four children and married
Mahalah Hand (I think it is Sarah's younger sister) and later
returned to Ft. Collins, Larimer County in 1869. He had a total of
ten children: George W., Mary J, Amanda, Montana J, Martha E,
Matilda, John W, Mark, Allen, and Edna. John Hardin died in Larimer
County on August 8, 1911.
Matilda Hardin (b.10/2/1875 in Ft. Collins) married Logan Tompkins (b.
9/11/1875 in Ft. Collins). They had at least one child, Loretta
Tompkins (b.9/17/1898 in Ft. Collins). If you have any information on
any of these persons, or know where I can find further information,
please send me a note. Thank you for all of your help.

We are interested in finding information about a girl/woman that
was adopted out about 1939-40 in Loveland or Boulder, Colorado. Her
father was George Edward Cleveland b. 5-25-1906 in Loveland, Co. Her
mother was called Frenchie. We assume that she was a French woman.
The girl was called Dee Dee. Her mother left the father with the girl
and he could not keep her and she was adopted out.

I am researching my family and I have reason to believe that a ggrand
mother may have been buried in Virginia Dale. Her death as close as
I can figure would have been 20 August 1890 at Box Elder, Colorado.
The name is Louise or Louisa Mayer mother of Emily Boyce (whose
husband William owned a ranch on the Wyoming Colorado border). Any
information you may be able to supply would be most appreciated.

I have been looking for a lost family for an older couple in Germany
for about two years now. The lead I have to your county is an
obituary from Nebraska. The person I seek is Katharina (Meulenberg)
Roufs. The obituary I refer to lists her husband (a brother of the
deceased in Nebraska) living in Fort Collins. This was in December of
1943. I have other information listing William Roufs' death date as
March 9, 1958. And Katharina's as February 10, 1963. They were Roman
Catholic, so if they are buried there, they would have been buried in
a Catholic cemetery.

Cecilia REICH. He was born 17 March 1881 in Alberweiler,

Robert Henry BEAIRD and family lived in Longmont from 1901 to the
1920's then moved to Loveland. Robert was a farmer, and the entire

1990," by Rose Brinks). Brinks is rewriting book and requests info on
John Thomas from Greece, N.Y. Died May, 1877; Walter Thomas, Died
1894 chopping wood; Ida B. Keller, Died 1882 at age 19; and A.J.
Wylie from Virginia who died in Laporte Sept. 1888, and was buried in
Laporte, supposedly to be moved to Virginia in the fall. Was he
moved?

Lesher Family. Frank and Mary Lesher buried 3 girls in 1881, 1888,
1899 in Laporte. When Mary died in 1902, bodies transferred to
Grandview. At that time there were 11 living children. Where are
they? 6 empty lots at Grandview cemetery in Lesher name. Also, are
they related to David B. Lesher, who had junior high named after him?

in 1962 and supposedly moved to Laporte (Bingham Hill Cemetery).

died in 1923 in Fort Collins. George married Louise Theresa STEINER.
Louise was born on December 2, 1874 in Crete, Nebraska. Louise died
on December 12, 1968 in Denver, Colorado. Louise and George are
buried in Fort Collins. George and Louise had nine children: Allan
STRELOW, Wilber A. STRELOW, Orval STRELOW, Grandvilla STRELOW, Tressa

Seeking information on Silas Bartholomew NORTON, who may have died in
Fort Collins. He was born in Southampton, MA in 1823, and married
Maria VAN DORN (they were later divorced). He lived in Texas and
Kansas, and moved to Colorado in the 1860s or 70s. We have found land
transaction records as late as 1899 in which he is named in Fort
Collins, but have found no record of him beyond that. His children
were William, Harry, George and Gertrude. Harry died in Nederland in

Hoping to learn more about early Larimer County residents who were my
husband's ancestors. We have some information from the "History of
Larimer County 1911" by Ansel Watrous. Would appreciate knowing more
about (1) Rezin E. DOTTS who was born near New Philadelphia,
Tuscarawas county, Ohio, Feb. 18,1852. In 1869, he went to Wayne Co.,
Iowa and in 1877 arrived in Fort Collins. He married (2) Esther
BLACK, August 26, 1877. The couple were the parents of three
daughters. After teaching school, managing Colorado elevator, farming
in Boxelder valley, the family moved to Denver in 1904 where Rezin
DOTTS was the President of the Brooks Tent & Awning Company.
Esther BLACK DOTTS was the daughter of another pioneer Larimer county
family. Her father was (3) Philemon P. BLACK who was born June 17,
1825 in Chautauqua county, New York. He came to the Cache la Poudre
valley in 1874 and farmed three miles north of Fort Collins. When he
died in 1901, he left (4) a widow (name unknown to me) and five grown
children. The third Larimer county family involved, is that of (5)
William B. BAKER and (6) Amanda E. MCCALL. William Bryant BAKER was
born May 11, 1854 in Illinois and died in 1905 in Ft. Collins. He
came to Larimer county in 1870 and was a cowboy at the Alsop and
Hutton ranch. He attended school at the Baptist University of Des
Moines, Iowa. On January 4, 1879, William B. BAKER and Amanda E.
MCCALL were married in Ft. Collins. They became the parents of four
daughters and two sons. A daughter died in childhood. (7) Raymond
Jasper BAKER, the eldest child, married (8) Kathryn Almeda DOTTS
January 4, 1907. They were the grandparents of my husband. Please
share any information you may have or suggest any resources that
might help seven more descendents and their offspring. Thanks.

An early Larimer county resident, Philemon P. BLACK, was my husband's
ggrandfather. Mr. Black was a native of Chautauqua county, New York,
born June 17, 1825. He went to the Cache la Poudre valley in 1874 and
farmed three miles north of Ft. Collins. He had a fruit orchard. When
he died in 1901, survivors included his widow, and 5 grown children.
Mrs. Black's name is unknown to us as are other details of this
family. One known fact, however, is that a daughter, Esther B. BLACK
married another early Larimer county resident, Rezin E. DOTTS on
August 26, 1877. Mr. DOTTS was born near New Philadelphis, Tuscarawas
county, Ohio, February 18, 1852. He went with his parents (names
unknown to us) in 1869 to Wayne county, Iowa. He taught school and
farmed. In 1877, he arrived in Ft. Collins and married Esther B.
BLACK that same year as mentioned. Mr. and Mrs. Dotts had three
daughters. Kathryn Almeda DOTTS, my husband's grandmother, married
Raymond Jasper BAKER, son of William Bryant and Amanda Ellen McCALL
BAKER. Mr. DOTTS was the manager of Colorado elevator for five years,
farmed in Boxelder valley in 1885 and moved to Denver in 1904. In
Denver County, Mr. Dotts was the President of the Brooks Tent &
Awning company. Much of our information was found in the 1911
"History of Larimer County Colorado" by Ansel Watrous. We would

(Messer and Stahl am Tarlyk), but connection between there and No.

Ft. Collins, 9 Dec 1893 and her mother's mother, Margaret Anna
Hawley, was born in Canada and died in Ft. Collins, 4 Apr 1888. Also

George was to have died in Fort Collins circa 1894. He was born in
West Virginia or Virginia circa 1810, she was born in Virginia. I

Willard B. DOW who was married to Jessie MacFARLANE, 1 Sep 1888 in
Larimer Co. CO. Willards father was Marcus DOW, but I do not know his
mothers name. Marcus had a brother Prince DOW. They came to CO from

WOLCOTT: Samuel Edward Wolcott, born 7 Sep 1867, Columbus City, IA,
died 4 Mar 1943, Fort Collins, CO. At the age of 18, Sam went to
Meeker, CO, and there drove a stagecoach. He was also a "jehu" for
Teddy Roosevelt, and a hunter. He apparently was in the Colorado
militia. Later in life, he removed to Fort Collins, where he died in
the Veteran's Home. Looking for anyone who ever knew him or heard of
him. He is said to have once had a wife, though know proof of this.
