Our Mission Statement

To promote and encourage an interest in genealogy, and to educate members and the interested public in genealogical research. To maintain and elevate genealogical standards; to stress the importance of accuracy in research through careful documentation. To locate, preserve, publish and index public and private genealogical / historical records. To assist and support any genealogical institutions or repositories in Colorado which are open to the public.

Monthly Meetings

2nd Wednesday of each month at 1:00 PM except for July and December when meetings include a pot luck luncheon and begin at Noon.


All meetings are held at the First Lutheran Church located at 803 3rd Avenue in Longmont. We meet in the "Friendship Center" room which is on the street level. It is accessed by the west door that faces 3rd Avenue,  It is adjacent to a small parking lot with 2 Handicap spots. More parking is available on the West side of the building with a stairway leading to this upper level.


 Longmont Family History Center Hours of Operation

Tuesdays: 9am-4pm and 6pm- 8pm

Thursdays: 9am-4pm

Saturday: 9am-NOON.

Closed: week of Thanksgiving; 2 weeks over Christmas and New Years.

NEW service at the FHC: Every Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM. Bring your family and your family tree and share with others. Learn who you are related to, share research efforts and get help overcoming your brick walls. Learn about newly indexed records that may contain information you are looking for and more!

Did you know there are over 22,594  grave listings for Mountain View Cemetery on the site? You can click on the MV Cemetery link above and add your own ancestors information, photos and more at this site.  You can add your own people if they haven't been included yet. The link takes you directly to MV but from the home page you can search for other cemeteries to find information on your genealogy and family history.


The Standing Rules for the Longmont Genealogical Society along with the Elected Positions and Board Position job descriptions have been updated. Please review the job descriptions if you are interested in serving in one of these capacities. We are always grateful for members willing to serve LGS and make our Society an asset to its members. indexed and can be searched through the Historical Records Da­tabase. Each of the record sets that are available in the

database has a description that should help you decide if an individual record will have the information you are looking for.

Many more record sets have not been indexed to date. This list of our holdings will help you get an idea of what’s available.


Society's Book Collection donated to the Longmont FHC

Our collection of books on genealogy from "how-to's" to local history on Longmont and some CD collections have been

donated to the Longmont Family History Center at 1721 Red Cloud Road. Check the online Index to the Book Collection and

then visit the FHC to read the books or view the CDs.





November 8, 1878.  This newspaper is available on microfilm at the Longmont Public Library and is available upstairs

with the other newspapers on microfilm.
