Our Mission Statement

 

LGS

To promote and encourage an interest in genealogy, and to educate members and the interested public in genealogical research. To maintain and elevate genealogical standards; to stress the importance of accuracy in research through careful documentation. To locate, preserve, publish and index public and private genealogical / historical records. To assist and support any genealogical institutions or repositories in Colorado which are open to the public.

Monthly Meetings

2nd Wednesday of each month at 1:00 PM except for July and December when meetings include a pot luck luncheon and begin at Noon.

 

All meetings are held at the  First Lutheran Church First Lutheran Church located at 803 3rd Avenue in Longmont. We meet in the "Friendship Center" room which is on the street level. It is accessed by the west door that faces 3rd Avenue,  It is adjacent to a small parking lot with 2 Handicap spots. More parking is available on the West side of the building with a stairway leading to this upper level.

 

 

FREE May Classes:

 

Wednesday, 15th May from 1-3 at the Longmont Family History Center - "Introduction to Family Search Family Tree" available FREE at www.familysearch.org website (after you register) taught by Diana Ornstead, This “Tree of Mankind” is a compilation of much research by many people. Class will demonstrate basic navigation, adding sources to your entries, and caution you about believing everything you see published. Some people are excellent, careful researchers, and some are not. Join us to look over and use this vast resource. Class limited to 16 people. Wednesday, 22nd May from 1-3 at the Longmont Family History Center - "Using Census Records to Go Backward and Forward in Time" taught

Tuesdays and Thursdays: 9am-4pm, 6pm-8pm;

Saturday: 9am-1pm

Closed: week of Thanksgiving; 2 weeks over Christmas and New Years.

The By-Laws & Standing Rules for 2012 for the Longmont Genealogical Society are posted here. The By-Laws & Standing Rules are being updated and corrected for 2013. If there are any changes, you would like to see made, please email Florence and let her know what they are. Our collection of books on genealogy from "how-to's" to local history on Longmont and some CD collections have been donated to the Longmont Family History Center at 1721 Red Cloud Road. Check the online Index to the Book Collection and then visit the FHC to read the books or view the CDs.
