PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
and follow these simple steps.
- Please limit your request to ONE
name per request.
- There is a subject line for each
reference. Please put this in the subject line of your request to
insure the message is not overlooked or accidentally deleted.
- In the first line of the message please put the
name of the book or source you are requesting the
lookup in.
- Make sure you can accept return mail
from these people. This applies to AOL users especially.
- Acknowledge the receipt of the lookup
with a FOLLOW-UP thank you note.
- Most of our volunteers do not live in
Colorado. If your question is NOT on this list, you
probably won't get the answer you are looking for.
- A 'Thank You' Email is always appreciated to
the person who did a look-up for you, even if they did not find
what you were looking for.

The Library holds Montrose newspapers
on microfilm. These films are NOT INDEXED. A
specific date is needed for research. Other resources that are
available are:
- Montrose County Marriages 1883-1900;
- 1910, 1912-1913 City Directories;
- High School yearbooks;
- 1870 Territorial,
- 1885 index;
- 1900, 1910 & 1920 Montrose County Census
- several books dealing with early Montrose.
3/2001- Note: I contacted the Montrose Daily Press about obtaining
past obituaries. This was the response:
... As a small newspaper, we don't have the
resources available to do research, copy stories, etc. for people.
We
do, however, have back issues of the newspaper well over 20 years
ago. If you know someone in the area who can come look that up for
you, that would be my first suggestion.
Barring that, I also suggest you contact the Montrose Historical
Society. This group may have volunteers available to do this
research.
Thanks again.

Lookups |
Note: Most lookup-volunteers
do not live in the area, and probably in
another state.
Please give complete information and only ONE inquiry
per email. MAKE SURE YOU INDICATE WHAT COUNTY YOU ARE
ASKING FOR A LOOKUP. Many people handle more than one county.
PLEASE be specific when you email. Give me names, dates, county,
and WHAT BOOK I am to do lookup. Please limit one request per
email.
