Montrose County was named after its County Seat, the city of Montrose.  It is the 16 most populous county of the 64 counties in Colorado.

The Old Spanish Historical Trail goes through Montrose County.

Counties that adjoin Montrose County are:  Mesa, Delta, Gunnison, Ouray, San Miguel and San Juan County, Utah.

Cities in the county consist of:  Bedrock, Cimarron, Maher, Montrose, Naturita, Nucla, Olathe, Paradox, Redvale, and Uravan.

Montrose County is famous for it's Olathe sweet corn.
