Harriet Marshall


Harriet Dunham Marshall, 92, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Western Hills Health Care Center in Denver.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 2000 Stover St. Harriet Marshall was born Jan. 19, 1909, in Ashland, Kan.
Following graduation from La Junta High School, she attended Southern Methodist University and
Colorado State Teachers College. She taught school in Newdale, before her marriage to Everette
Marshall on Dec. 21, 1929.

Mrs. Marshall traveled with her husband during the 1930s as he sought and attained the heavyweight
world wrestling championship. They returned to La Junta to develop a farm and
ranch operation and became active in community affairs. Everette Marshall was a 1967
inductee into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame .

Harriet Marshall was an active supporter of the Colorado Boys Ranch since its inception. After moving
to Fort Collins in 1971, she enjoyed family activities, mountain hiking, traveling and
her participation in St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Survivors include a daughter, Ann Schomburg,
five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her son, Bob Marshall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Colorado Boys Ranch, St. Luke's
Episcopal Church, or the charity of your choice in care of Reager Funeral Home.

"She was also a big Suppoter of the Indian Affair in LaJunta ..... I can't remember the name of the Tribe. ............... They use to travel all over the Country and put on shows" He said the Marshall's promoted wrestling in Fort Collins.
