The Swedish Genealogical Society of Colorado (SGSC) was organized in April of 2007. Since that day we have grown to over 80 members. This enthusiastic group meets monthly at the Denver Public Library at 14th and Broadway and welcomes interested family historians and new members.

You probably have one in your family tree. A great grandfather who arrived in America via outer space. A great, great grandmother known only as “wife of” her husband. A child without parents. An immigrant without a parish of origin. You believe you have exhausted the traditional avenues of research and don’t know where to go next.
You have reached a brick wall, but not necessarily a dead end. Most brick walls can be dismantled given time and perseverance. Join us in a quest to break down SGSC members family history walls, brick by brick.
If you have broken down a Swedish-American brick wall or had a family research breakthrough, we would like you to share your research methods and tales of success.
Please contact Ron Floberg at CRFloberg0308@q.com before March 21st if you would like to have our members break down your "Brick Wall" or if you'd like to share your tale of a "Breakthrough" with the group.

After you have researched the basic facts of your family’s history, there are many more intriguing insights you may be able to may learn about both yourself and your ancestors. You may discover repeating patterns over generations such as medical conditions, traits, behaviors and preferences in your family tree. This two-part workshop will explore ways to apply multigenerational themes to family research. In April, we will demonstrate ways to create a family genogram and a chronology of significant family events. Using this information in our May lecture, we will build on your genogram and chronological charts to explore themes from Bowen Family Systems Theory and Psychology as they apply to family research.
