The Swedish Genealogical Society of Colorado (SGSC) was organized in April of 2007. Since that day we have grown to over 80 members. This enthusiastic group meets monthly at the Denver Public Library at 14th and Broadway and welcomes interested family historians and new members.
Dede Horan
Speaker Dede Horan will share her knowledge of postcard history. She will demonstrate how you can use postcards to illuminate your family’s legacy and learn more about local history. You will learn how to date postcard views and catalog so-called “real photo postcards.” If you haven’t been lucky enough to come across postcard images in a family shoebox, Dede will detail places you can buy postcard images of small towns, cemeteries, homes, and businesses.
Postcards from dealers Dede Horan and the Mobley’s will be available for purchase.
Dede Horan has collected postcard for over 50 years. She sells postcards full-time on eBay and at regional shows. She is a co-founder of the Denver Postcard and Paper Odyssey, past President of the Denver Postcard Club, the Postcard Club Newsletter Editor, and an insatiable collector of family mementos.
Also featured will be Carol and Bill Mobley, nationally recognized ephemera dealers who specialize in the sale of historic postcards online and at regional shows. Bill is the founder of the Ephemera Society of America and the Ephemera Catalog at ephermeranet.com. Bill and/or Carol have served as past President of the Denver Postcard Club as well as the Newsletter Editor and Membership Chair for numerous years.
