 "Sheridan Celebrates"

This page updated: May 9, 2009.

The next "Sheridan Celebrates" day will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2009. The theme will be: "Sheridan on the Move."

This is a community activities day that is held each year, generally on the fourth Saturday of September. The activities include a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Sheridan Fire Department. The breakfast is held at Sheridan Fire Station #2 at 4101 S. Federal Blvd. starting at 7:30 am. There is a parade through the city of about two miles. The parade starts at 10:00 am and begins at Sheridan High School and ends at Barnes Park. A fair is held from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at Barnes Park with a variety of food and entertainment. Barnes Park is located at South Shoshone Street and West Girard Avenue. Sheridan High School is located at 3201 W. Oxford Avenue. The activities are coordinated by the "Sheridan Celebrates Committeee" sponsored by the City Council and are coordinated with the South Suburban Park and Recreation District and the Sheridan School District.

Each year a booklet is published for distribution during the activities. The booklet includes a list of the elected city officials, city staff, the school board, the park and recreation district board, a list of event sponsors, and historical articles. Those articles are included in the "Historical Articles" of this web site. Some of the proceeds from the day benefit the Sheridan Historical Society.
