Mahlbergs from Esch/Ellesheim, Kreis Euskirchen

including descendants from Effelsberg, Dollendorf and USA

There were three families of Mahlbergs in the late 1600's in the area of Esch & Ellesheim whose oldest members may have been siblings. The parent's names are unknown. The three possible siblings are Peter Mahlberg (who married Anna Scheuerheck  ), Jakob Mahlberg (married to Veronica Benden) and Margaretha Mahlberg (married to Johann Tondorf). I am descended from both Jakob and Peter.

Only one child is known for Peter Mahlberg. This is Joseph Mahlberg, born 1746 in Ellesheim, Germany. Joseph married Agnes Frings. They had at least three children, Anna Maria, Johann Gerhard, and Johann Peter.  Descendants of Anna Maria Mahlberg Lethert and Johann Gerhard Lethert eventually emigrated to the US and many of the descendants have been located.

In Germany, the family also lived in the towns of Effelsberg, Lethert, Dollendorf. In the US, they lived in Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota in the earliest days, as did many emigrants from the Eifel area.
