Jean Tennant Skar Theodor
Klinkhammer was born about 1822. Theodor & Christine Stein came
to North America 21 Feb 1852 reportedly from Dahtine ??? . Prussia.
It is reported but there is some confusion on this point that their parents
came from Cologne in Germany ( possibly form
Netherlands)- more on this family here

I am interested in the Klinkhamers who lived in Cogswell ND. I did not find
a continuation of that name after the mid 1800s. I lived near these people
in the 1940s.
My great grandmother was a Mary Klinkhammer Lethert. Her parents, Joseph
Klinkhammer and Margaret Mahlberg came from Dollendorf, Germany. Because
the name was relatively uncommon, I began searching early census records
for the name. I also searched church and civil records of Dollendorf and
the nearby villages. I found that many of the families from Minnesota and
Wisconsin especially had come from this same area. I do not know how common
the name is in other parts of Germany but was told there were many Klinkhammers
now in the Dollendorf area.
