He married Eleanor Margaret Lethert May 12, 1956. Eleanor was born March 8, 1933 in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is the daughter of Francis Anthony Lethert and Margaret C. Thomas.

Charles Fried and Eleanor Margaret Lethert had the following children:

3 ii. Paul Adrian Fried was born in St. Paul, Minnesota July 5, 1958. He married Mary_beth Youngblut August 1, 1986. Mary_beth was born April 4, 1962.

5 iv. Kathryn Elizabeth Fried was born in St. Paul, Minnesota May 12, 1971.
