Religious Life in the Colonies
Allied Families: Carter, Chappell, Colt, Merritt, Noyes, Platt, Pratt and Tubbs In 1665 the town of Lyme was set off from Saybrook. It was incorporated in 1667. Many manuscripts, letters and documents about Lyme can be found in the Connecticut State Library in Hartford. Some can be found in the William Griswold Lane Collection at the Yale University Library. Printed genealogies of Lyme families can be found at the Connecticut Historical Society and the Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library in Old Lyme.
