HOW TO SUBMIT DATA TO THE SUSSEX DEGENWEB PROJECT
The free data files provided on the Sussex DEGenWeb Project are some of the most popular and helpful areas of this web site, due to our many dedicated and generous transcribers/donors who take the time to share the records they've collected with other researchers through this web site.
If you would like to join this group of highly appreciated volunteers, let me first thank you for your willingness to share your time to accomplish this important task. There are so many researchers who find it difficult to get to the records they need, and online data is a blessing to them.
Please read over the following guidelines before submitting your records . . .
You may find it helpful to take a look at previously-done transcriptions of the type you are sending by visiting the Sussex County USGenWeb Archives. This will give you an idea of what works, and what doesn't, in regards to format.
Your transcription should be saved as a plain text file. This will be with a .txt file extension. Please do not use spreadsheet, database, table, or delimited file formatting.
When you're ready to submit a transcribed record, please send it as a plain text file attachment (*.txt) to Gayle Triller, the Delaware USGenWeb Archives Coordinator.
Alternatively, you can go to the easy Records Submission Forms site at http://www.genrecords.org/defiles/ and click on the type of record you are submitting and enter it there.
Your transcription will be uploaded to The USGenWeb Archives, where it will be accessible for free by all Sussex researchers.
