please read all of the following before requesting a lookup. If these instructions are not followed carefully, your request may very well receive no response.

• Please limit your request to one name and one book or source per request. Try to be as specific with your request as possible.
  
  
• NO blanket searches, please. Take note of what reference each volunteer has, and format a specific lookup request for that reference.
• Make sure you put LOWER SHORE RESOURCE LOOKUP in the subject line of your request to ensure that the message is not overlooked or accidentally deleted.
  
  
• In the first line of the message, put the name of the book in which you are requesting the look-up.
  
  
• AN IMPORTANT WORD ABOUT LOOKUPS: Lookup volunteers have been instructed to give minimal information. It is not our intention that a lookup take the place of purchasing the publications listed. If the lookup volunteer determines that there is a goodly amount of information in the book for you, he or she will recommend that you purchase the publication for yourself, and may be able to refer you to a source for doing so. Please support our genealogical societies, small publishers, and authors by purchasing publications. This will encourage the publication of more books and other resources, which is good for all of us!
  
  

If you request a lookup, don't forget to thank the volunteer for his or her time. :)

The USGenWeb Project policy statement on lookups: USGenWeb, MDGenWeb, DEGenWeb, and RootsWeb do not wish to be party to any copyright violations. Lookup requests should be limited to one name, or perhaps two if it is a married couple. Information given will be minimal, for example if it is a cemetery lookup, the information will be the name of the cemetery and the dates on the headstone. Please do not ask for "everybody with X surname" or an entire family group, or for hardcopies to be mailed; all volunteers have been asked not to comply with such requests. If you feel there is enough material in the book or reference material to warrant it, ask the volunteer how you might purchase your own copy.
