The Sussex County site uses an online form for submission of research queries. Be sure to read the Guidelines and Tips below before posting a query. Then, click the link below to go to the query submission form.
Please note: If you are entering a query, you do NOT need to also submit a surname registry. Your surnames will automatically be registered along with the query.
QUERY WRITING GUIDELINES AND TIPS
Always include NAME, LOCATION, and DATES. Place this information near the beginning of your query.
If you don't know exact dates, put date ranges or estimates.
Include the COUNTY name(s) connected with your query. Your query may not get posted if it doesn't seem specific to Sussex County. Also, not everyone is familiar with the names of all the tiny towns in a county.
USE PROPER CAPITALIZATION. Be sure to put surnames, and only surnames, in ALL CAPS. All other words should be in lower case, capitalizing only the initial letters in proper names, etc. This is important, because the software used by the Sussex site to index your query recognizes surnames based on capitalization.
If there are alternate spellings of a surname, please list no more than two alternates.
Please be sure to include your full Internet eMail address and your NAME (first and last). Requests received without both eMail address and name will not be posted.
I hope these guidelines are helpful to you in forming a fruitful query!
