Looking for Sussex ties to my 3rd great grandmother's family, Sarah Emeline CALLAWAY. Sarah was born 02 May 1827 in Sussex County, Delaware and died 10 February 1908. Sarah married Wingate Gordy MATTHEWS on 28 September 1841, in Sussex County, Delaware. They had 10 children, one being my 2nd great grandmother, Laura Emily Matthews, born 22 February, 1861 at Harmonson Hotel in Laurel, Delaware. Laura E. MATTHEWS married James T. DAILEY, (II)?, on 04 January 1879. Laura died 12 August 1934 in New Castle, Delaware. My above mentioned 3rd great grandmother, Sarah Emeline Callaway, also known as Sarah "M" Callaway, is the daughter of John (Sr.) and Sarah Callaway of Sussex County, Delaware. John Callaway (possible middle initial "W", thus a senior), was born abt. 1781 in Sussex Co. DE., and died 09, February 1831 in Sussex County, Delaware. The senior John Callaway's father is William Callaway, born abt. 1754 and died 1793 in Sussex Co., Delaware, and his mother is Sarah Giles.

I am seeking info on the HARRINGTON family that moved to Sussex County from Somerset County, MD sometime after 1910. My great great grandmother's name was Amelia HARRINGTON. Her children were Otis, Blanche, George Sidney, William Glenwood, and Ira Harrington. Her husband George S. Harrington, Sr. died while they were living in Somerset County, MD. He is buried in Mt. Vernon, MD. Blanche married James Windsor. They had one son, James B. Windsor. His wife was Lucille (don't know maiden name). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

John D. TRACY was born in Sussex Co., Delaware in 1821 and married Catherine W. LONG from Sussex Co. in 1845. Samuel E. TRACY is in 1830 census for Sussex Co., and I believe he is John D. Tracy's father. Does anyone have information linking these two men or any information on Catherine's lineage? Thank you.

Searching for information on William G(?) CROPPER born about 1774 in Sussex Co., DE. He was listed in the census records of Sussex Co. (Baltimore Hundred area) in 1790 and 1800, along with Thomas and James Cropper (possibly brothers). William was in Davidson Co., TN by 1806 and in Wilson Co., TN by 1850. If anyone has information on names of parents and siblings, would appreciate hearing from you.

Seeking families of Tilman KNOX (1779-1820) and his wife Henrietta WHALEY (1776-1824). Both were born in Sussex County, Delaware. They migrated to Ohio just before 1820. Children include Thomas KNOX (1798-1884), John Whaley KNOX (1799-1858), George KNOX (1802-1881), Henrietta KNOX (1803-1891), Bethuel KNOX (1806- c. 1879), Charles KNOX (1810-1892), and Sarah KNOX (1811-?). Henrietta may be related to Levi WHALEY (b. 1789 in Delaware). Tilman KNOX may be related to Levi KNOX, who moved from Delaware to Ohio at about the same time. Any information relating to these surnames appreciated.

Searching for information on William (G?) CROPPER born about 1774 in Sussex Co., Delaware or Maryland. William, James, and Thomas CROPPER were listed in the 1800 census of Sussex Co. and could be brothers. William CROPPER was living in Tennessee in the early 1800s and married Abigail ELLIS in Davidson Co., Tennessee 7 Mar 1806. He later married Elizabeth NORWOOD 21 Apr 1828 in Davidson Co. William was listed in the 1850 Census of Wilson Co., Tennessee and was living with his son (James E. CROPPER) and family. Would appreciate any information on names of parents or siblings of William.

Searching for information, ancestry on Ishmael STEEL or STEELE of Sussex Co., Delaware (1827 - 1864), m. Rhoda Morris Spicer in Dagsborough, children James b. 1858, John b.1855, Thomas b. 1862. His father may be James STEEL, m. Penelope ___. I have Rhoda living in Millsborough after his death. N.b., this is not James Maull STEEL, although there may be a connection. thanks.

Mary Clara DASHIELL was the daughter of William Warfield DASHIELL and Miranda H. WHEATLEY of Laurel, Delaware. Clara married unk FARROW about 1882. Clara then married David Marshall HITCH in 1898 in Philadelphia. Who was the FARROW? Does anyone have any information on this family? Clara signed the autograph book of a FARROW relative, between the 2 marriages.

Lemuel W. RICKARDS (1805-1885) lived in Cedar Neck, Sussex County. Had 5 sons by first wife, Sarah Ann Derrickson (Phillip H., Silas T., Lemuel W. Jr., Samuel D.) and had 4 sons by second wife Nancy Wise (John Ward, Archibal E., James Asher, Willard Edgar). Looking for information on location of the family homestead. I've been told there was a property on Central Ave. in Cedar Neck known as Rickhaven. Any information would be appreciated.
