BUNTING, MUMFORD, RYAN, WOODARD posted by Doris Nolly on Friday, April 16, 2004

My grandmother, Mary Ella RYAN was born in Frankford(t), Sussex Co., in 1878. Her father was John RYAN who married Elizabeth Ann MUMFORD. Elizabeth's father was James C. MUMFORD, b. abt 1830. He married Elizabeth BUNTING abt. 1853. I believe James MUMFORD's father may have been Jesse MUMFORD. Mary Ella RYAN married Jesse B. WOODARD. Would love to share what I have with anyone sharing information on these families. Thank You.

Looking for John and Jonathan BETTS, sons of Samuel BETTS, Sr., who moved to GA from Broad Creek Hundred in 1795. A John that fits is on the 1800 and 1810 census, and a Jonathan that fits is on the 1800, 1820 - 1840 census. Any info appreciated either to confirm or deny the link. Thanks.

MARKER posted by Donna Marker on Friday, May 7, 2004

Looking for information on James MARKER. He lived in the Bridgeville area, in Sussex County, in the late 1800's to early 1900's. He had a son named Charles Kent MARKER. He is my father-in-laws grandfather. I would like to find out about his ancestors. I don't know the maiden name of his wife, but believe she was called Annie. My father-in-law thinks his family was from the Milton area, but he's not sure. He's 93 years old and I would like to be able to have this information for him. Any help would be really appreciated.

ARDERLY, AUDERLY, DAVIDSON, WARRINGTON posted by Kathleen Osborne Coan on Wednesday, June 9, 2004

Hannah DAVIDSON, widow of William DAVIDSON, owned land in Sussex County, DE, deeded to her by Thomas WARINGTON (sic) on 9th February, 1732. On 6 August, 1753, her children sold the 197 acre tract of land to Jacob WARRINGTON. Her Will (1747) shows descendants, Lewis b. 1712; Mary b. abt. 1714; Sarah b. abt. 1716. Records reproduced in The Davidson Genealogy by Elizabeth Davidson Harbaugh, show a marriage for Sarah to John ARDERLY (or AUDERLY) of Sussex County in 1735 or 1736. If anyone else is working on this or related family lines, it would be to our mutual advantage to exchange information.

WELCH posted by Linda Calder on Sunday, June 20, 2004

My mother worked at a diner in Milford, Delaware in the mid to late 1930s. At that time there was likely only one diner. I would like to know where it was (is?). It would be great if I could locate a picture of it. My Mother's name was N. Ruth WELCH. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

BETTS, COLLINS, ROACH posted by Claudia Scarbrough on Saturday, July 3, 2004

A Samuel BETTS was in Maryland in 1776 in a location that became Delaware. He may have been fighting the Revolutionary War. After the war ended land opened up in the southern states. Samuel BETTS, Sr. (1730, MD/DE -1809 Hancock Co., GA), his wife, Bridget (bef 1733 - 25 October 1815, Hancock Co., GA ) and their family were living in Broad Creek Hd., Sussex Co., DE. In 1795 Samuel, Sr., his wife, their seven children, spouses, and at least 14 grandchildren took off to Georgia, joined by many neighbors and friends in the migration to GA. Samuel BETTS, Sr., Bridget, their sons, Abraham BETTS, Jonathan BETTS and John BETTS, his daughters Mary ROACH, Sarah COLLINS and Elizabeth COLLINS, and their families headed for Hancock Co., GA. John BETTS and Jonathan BETTS may have later returned to Broad Creek Hd., Sussex, Delaware. A John of the right age is on the 1800 and 1810 census and a Jonathan of the right age is on the 1800, and 1820-1840 census. Samuel BETTS, Jr. took his family into western Jackson Co., GA. I am looking for information about these folk while they were living in Delaware/Maryland. I have lots on the families after they moved to GA. I would be glad to share, but I have very little about them before they moved. Any help would be appreciated.
