CARPENTER, CLENDANIEL posted by Duane G. Carpenter on Friday, September 2, 2005

Seeking data on Messick CARPENTER, b.1800, Sussex Co., Cedar Creek, DE. Immigrated to Cass Co. Michigan 1837 by wagon. Messick's wife was Elizabeth CLENDANIEL, sister to George CLENDANIEL. Trying to find Messick's parents - Messick CARPENTER and his wife Advice (maiden name unknown). Messick has a deviation in spelling on the census of 1820, as it appears as Mesfick, or close to that spelling. I am trying to trace my ancestry back through Delaware to the original country my CARPENTER ancestors came from. Any help would be appreciated, and any sensible fee will be considered for good info. Thanks.

CAIN, MURPHEY, MURPHY posted by Margo Murphy Connor on Friday, November 11, 2005

I am seeking information about and prior to my grandparents: William MURPHY, of Milford, DE, who was born 10 Dec 1864 and died 12 Oct 1935. He married (when?) Sarah Emily CAIN, of Harrington, DE. Sarah Emily was born 26 Mar 1867, and died 28 Mar 1934. William Murphy was a green vegetable/produce dealer and Captain of "City of Milford", a ship that plied the Delaware River from Philadelphia to Frederica and Milford, DE. Their children were William, Eugene, Edward, Laura, Genevieve (Neva) and Herbert. My grandfather William MURPHY's father was William J. MURPHY, presumably of Sussex County. He was a sergeant in the Union army. I have no further information about him or any details of my great-grandmother and their children, other than William. I have searched our local Mormon Family History Center's database, including U.S. census, birth, marriage, and death data, at length, with scant progress, but I am a novice genealogist who may be missing the mark. Meanwhile, heartiest thanks in advance for any help you can give in demystifying our family history!
