ALBACKER / ALLBACHER / ALBICHER / FRY -My great grandfather Sebastian Heinrick ALBACKER was born in Germany, December 17, 1841 He married Mary Ann FRY in Germany and had three sons before they left to emigrate to America.

After migrating to America they had four more children
Anna b. 1870
Frank b. 1871
Caroline b. 1872
William b. 1874
Therefore, they must have left Germany for America between 1864-1870, for Anna was the first born here in America. Hello and Thank you for this. I have been trying to get information on Friesenhausen, Bavaria, Germany. It is located near and has the same postal zipcode as Aidhausen, Bavaria, Germany. Neither are located on a map. Nothing on the web at all on these cities. Thanks if you answer this, will appreciate it. Also, Do you know where I can read any information on Bavaria like the history of Bavaria in English? 2. What year did they come to the USA and how?
My Grandparents were Catholic, and in 1910 they adopted my mother from the orphan home in New York City. My mother rode the Orphan Train in 1910. PFLAUMER -My name is Terry Harris. I live in Holzgerlingen near Stuttgart. I found a family tree by Stattman in the Stuttgart library. It has the names of 1,027 PFLAUMERs from Weissenburg in Bavaria. I am desperately looking for a connection between these PFLAUMERs and my direct ancestors (700 people) from Baden and the village of Niederhofen.

Do you have any suggestions as to where I could look? I have exhausted the archives at the Pfarer houses in Niederhofen, Klien Gartach, Stetten am Heuchelberg, and Elsenz. ALWER - I am trying to locate any information regarding my great grandmother whose name was Ida ALWER. She was born in Oberhausen, Bavaria, Germany sometime during the 1800's. This town was located just outside Munich. I believe her parents were farmers in the area, since a letter written to her talked about the family in Germany butchering one of their pigs. Her father died in a war, and her mother remarried. At the age of 13, she emigrated to the United States, and was married at age 15. She had to have emigrated to the United states sometime prior to 1893, as my grandmother was born in Washougal, Washington, USA in 1895. Any suggestions or information you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Margaret M. Hall Posted 7 July 1997.

ALWER -Thank you for posting my query [re:ALWER]to the Bavaria, Germany, WorldGenWeb site. I have found out some additional information regarding my great grandmother, some of which gives a bit more detail and some of which conflicts with some of the information I submitted on my original Query. The 1900 Census for Clark County Washington, says that she was born in January of 1868. It also lists the year of her immigration as 1873, which would have made her about 16 when she came to the United States. She had been married 14 years at the time of the census, so she must have married at the age of 18. Margaret M. Hall Posted 15 July 1997.

OPP -Looking for information on Max[Marz] Joseph OPP. b. 20 Aug. 1811 d. 26 Apr. 1891 in NE. Wife Eva Margaretta ? b. 31 Oct. 1810 d. Aug 1 1876 Grand Island, NE. One indication is that they may have come from Boden, Bavaria, Germany. Their sons were Christian George b. 18 Feb. 1842, d. 25 Oct. 1926; wife Elizabeth M. MILLER b. 10 MARCH, 1844, d. 1 July, 1932. She had a son named Charlie Miller. The rest of the children had the OPP surname on her obituary. It says she came to America in 1871, arrived in Cincinnati, OH. She stayed six months and moved to Hall County, NE. They had Erhardt and Lena when they came to America. Max and Eva's other sons were Christoph John and Erhardt. It is told that they were huntsmen for the Czar of Bavaria and there was a duel and someone was slain and they fled in the night. Also that they left a sister or daughter who was a belly dancer. Don't know if any of this is true. They were of the Lutheran faith. I would like to know what Eva's maiden name was, where they came from in Bavaria, and if it is true that they fled. Is there a record of Max's parents? Gene Dew Posted 17 July 1997.

SCHEUERMANN - My wife is attempting to locate information on her gg-grandfather, William SCHEUERMANN. William's obituary indicates that his date of birth was December 15, 1817 and he came from Arnstein, Bavaria. (I see the current Germany map indicates there are three Arnstein, Bavarias. I'm afraid we don't know which is the correct Arnstein.) William came to the United States prior to 1840 and settled in Lyons, Wisconsin. Family stories suggest he came to the U.S. with hisbrother(s). Possibly his father's name was Sebastian Scheuermann. Any information that you could share regarding William, his parents, siblings or relatives would be greatly appreciated.

STEINKIRCHNER / MYER -I am researching the history of Franklin STEINKIRCHNER and JosephSTEINKIRCHNER who arrived in Bellefonte, PA after arriving in New York a few weeks earlier. Below is a short history of Franklin. I don't know much about Joseph. Any help you can provide in identifying their parents, spouses, siblings and siblings offspring who later emmigrated to the U.S. would deeply appreciated. Told circa August 1897:
Mr. Franklin STEINKIRCHNER born in Käun, Germany (Probably Cham, Germany), June 29, 1814. He was highly respected for his solid worth and good citizenship. He learned his trade as a boot and shoe maker in his native town in 1829. In 1836 he was drafted into German army, in which he served six years. On Oct 25, 1842 he married Miss Frances K. MYER and then worked 10 years at his trade in Germany. In 1852 he sailed for the United States of America with his wife, five children and $600. After being on the ocean 35 days, they landed in New York, where he remained 20 days and then went to Harrisberg. Not succeeding there as he had expected, he went to Lewstown from which place he and his family walked to Bellefonte, Pennsylvania arriving November 12, 1852. Two weeks after their arrival another son was born to them (William Henry STEINKIRCHNER 1852-1911).

He worked for the late Jacob FISHBURN for 2 years and 6 months, and then purchased 2 acres of land and afterwards 2 more and followed his trade ever since. He has raised 7 children, 4 boys and 3 girls all of whom are still living. His wife died 14 years ago. He can repair as many shoes a day as most any person and is happy and strong without physical ailments having enjoyed life for 83 years and 2 months and his many friends here hope to see him round out a century.
