RE: MUELLER -Maxine sent the following query that I need help with since I am very rusty with my German: Can someone tell me what this says? I understand the addresses for the church centers in Cottbus, Frankfurt/Main and Frankfurt/Oder in response to my query to the Evangelical Church Center in Berlin/Brandenburg re. Robert Otto MULLER/MUELLER, baptised in Cottbus 1859, and brothers living in the two Franfurts. Has he forwarded my query to those places, or is he suggesting I write? Would appreciate any help you might give me in directing my query to these places, or suggesting someone who could do an e-mail translation on my query from English to German. How does one send a self-addressed envelope for reply? Your guidance would be much appreciated.

RUGE -I do not know whether your postings relate to the old Prussian borders of Brandenburg. If so, could you please add my search name as follows:

RUGE. Christian [b.1804] and Eleanor [b.1807] RUGE. Associated with Muschten near Schwiebus about 1850, probably Evang. Son Johann Wilhelm [b.c1836] migrated in 1850 to South Australia on the San Francisco. Another probable son Johann Friedrich [b.c1829] and wife Louise migrated from Beutnitz, north of Krossen/Crossen/ now Krosno in 1877, from Hamburg on The Papa, with 8 children. I am searching for all their records and would appreciate guidance about accessing official family details if they survive. My grandfather Friedrich Louis recorded his birth as 'Berlin' but that is uncertain, more likely it was in these towns or neighbouring ones. I know RUGEs lived in these areas before WWII, and I am attempting to contact those who now live in Berlin and West German areas today. [5 letters sent] If you know of any RUGE family lineages at all, I would be interested at this stage to be in contact with you, as others of this line may have emigrated elsewhere during these years. If you wish to write in German, I can correspond with you as well. There are over 1000 descendants of this one family in Australia. ARMONIER / BENSCH / HAUPT -My interest is in the Huguenot name of ARMONIER, in Germany (from Liebenwalde). There are not many around these days. I was born in Berlin in 1943, but emigrated to Australia in 1949, and have lived in the USA since about 1966 (with stays in Canada and Turkey in between). My mother was a BENSCH (from Zehdenick) and her mother a HAUPT (from Liebenwalde) and HER mother was the ARMONIER (also from Liebenwalde). The HAUPT father was from Zerpenschleuse, but disappeared (supposedly went to the USA, but was never heard from again). I am particularly interested in finding someone who could go and check the church records in Liebenwalde for me, perhaps in exchange for something I can do for them? Is that possible? By the way, I have done extensive research into the available information on the ARMONIER name in Germany, but have come up with nothing except that it is a Huguenot name. No compiled genealogies recorded anywhere. I've found 10 in the German telephone directory and will write to them. I am compiling a database of the church records of Gross and Klein Ziethen - the French church. I am using both the filmed registers and the Leiden index which predates the registers. It also includes some from Angermunde and other surrounding areas/towns. Irene E. Johnson 15 Feb 1998

NEUMANN / NIEMANN / DRAEHN / DRAHN / HASTEDT /BARTEL / BERTHEL -The NEUMANNs and the DRAEHNs settled in Perleberg from 1865-1884. Actually, the DRAEHNs left in 1883 with a NEUMANN niece in tow. All these emigrated to the US and settled in Brenham, Texas. Am looking for info on the NEUMANN kids-4 of whom went to the US with the parents-actually 3 went with their parents and the fourth went with the DRAEHNs to the US. But there were 13 NEUMANN kids in all, 6 of whom did not come, one was born here. They were Lutheran, so I am certain they attended the Perleberg Evangelishe Kirche-the four children that came to the US were baptised in Perleberg and one was confirmed in that church.

Joachim NEUMANN (born in Burghagen by Perleberg March 1, 1838) and wife Anna
Dorothea HASTEDT of Kleinow-born in Kleinow 11-30-1841
children:
Maria Dorothea NEUMANN , born 8-23-1866 in Perleberg
Anna Louise NEUMANN(my grandmother) born 5-23-1874 in Perleberg,bapt 6-21-1874
Pauline Sophia NEUMANN born Mar 30? 1880 in Perleberg
Karl Hermann born June 9, 1876 in Perleberg., bapt 7-10-1876

Johann Joachim DRAEHN (born August 14, 1840 in Reetz by Bresch-Brandenburg) married Johanna Karoline HASTEDT, Dorothea's sister
children:
Wilhelm DRAEHN born in Perleberg May 17, 1867
Wilhelminna DRAEHN born in Perleberg March 22, 1870

Johann Joachim DRAEHN' s father was Johann Heinrich DRAEHN & mother Dorothea Katharine Marie nee BARTEL or BERTHEL. She was from Reetz by Bresch. This man and his wife I think moved to the states way ahead of the NEUMANNs and DRAEHNs that left in 1883 and 1884.

The DRAEHN spelling in US should have been DRAEHN, but has also been spelled DRAHN. Am trying to find a connection between these DRAHNs who settled in Waco, Texas and the DRAEHNs who lived in Perleberg. Can give names of the sons, but don't have parents names-Karl, Christopher Columbus, Joseph, Frederick, John, and a sister named Mary. They are supposed to have arrived in the states in 1860. All but Christopher's descendents settled in the Waco, Texas area. Mrs. Pat Theopistos 31 Jan 1998
