WHIPSNADE, a parish in the hundred of MANSHEAD, county of BEDFORD, 3 miles (S.W.) from Dunstable, containing 199 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Bedford, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at 7.13.4., and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene.
