1901

Seventh National Census carried out. Under the 100 year rule details will be publically available in 2002.

 

1905

Frederick Henry Chase made Bishop of Ely

 

1908

Under the Haldane Reforms a closer integration of the Volunteers with the Regular Army was instigated creating the Territorial Force. The Cambridgeshire Militia was one of 23 battalions to be disbanded.

 

1908-14

The 3rd (Cambridgeshire) Volunteer Battalion The Suffolk Regiment becomes the 1st Battalion The Cambridgeshire Regiment (TF).

 

1911

Eighth National Census carried out. Under the 100 year rule details will be publically available in 2012.

 

1914

Start of World War I.

 

1914-19

The Cambridgeshire Regiment (TF) incorporates: 1/1st Battalion; 2/1st Battalion (disbanded 1918); 3/1st Battalion - 1915-1917; 4/1st Battalion - 1915-1917; The Depot.

 

1918

End of World War I.

 

1920-45

The Cambridgeshire Regiment (TF) becomes The Cambridgeshire Regiment (TA) incorporating: 1st Battalion; 2nd Battalion - raised 1939.

 

1921

Ninth census of the whole of England and Wales carried out. Under the 100 year rule details will be publically available in 2022.

 

1924

Leonard Jauncey White-Thomson made Bishop of Ely

 

1931

Tenth census of the whole of England and Wales carried out. Under the 100 year rule details will be publically available in 2032.

 

1934

Bernard Oliver Francis Heyward made Bishop of Ely

 

1939

Start of World War II against Germany.

 

1941

Japanese join World War II.
Harold Edward Wynn made Bishop of Ely

 

1945

End of World War II against Germany and Japan.

 

1947-55

The Cambridgeshire Regiment (TA) becomes 629 (The Cambridgeshire Regiment) Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA).

 

1955-56

The 629 (The Cambridgeshire Regiment) Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) becomes the 629 (The Cambridgeshire Regiment) Parachute Light Regiment RA (TA).

 

1956-61

The 629 (The Cambridgeshire Regiment) Parachute Light Regiment RA (TA) becomes the 1st Battalion The Cambridgeshire Regiment (TA).

 

1957

Noel Baring Hudson made Bishop of Ely

 

1961-71

The 1st Battalion The Cambridgeshire Regiment (TA) becomes The Suffolk & Cambridgeshire Regiment (TF).

 

1964

Edward James Keymer Roberts made Bishop of Ely

 

1971-92

The Suffolk & Cambridgeshire Regiment (TF) becomes the D (Cambridgeshire) Company, 6th (Volunteer) Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment.

 

1977

Peter Knight Walker made Bishop of Ely

 

1990

Stephen Whitefield Sykes made Bishop of Ely

 

1992-95

The D (Cambridgeshire) Company, 6th (Volunteer) Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment becomes the D (Cambridgeshire) Company, 5th (Volunteer) Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment.

 

1995-onwards

The D (Cambridgeshire) Company, 5th (Volunteer) Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment becomes the D (Cambridgeshire) Company, 6th (Volunteer) Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment.
