William Colegrove WATSON and Harriet Newson BULLER

William Colegrove WATSON was bapt. 24 Sep 1824 in Swerford, Oxfordshire.
Harriet Newson BULLER was born 23 Jul 1825 in Halesworth, Suffolk

1851 Census shows that Harriet was a house servant for Lt.Col. C. R. BOWERS at # 31 Wilton Place, London. Around the corner, William was a groom living at Wilton Crescent, Mews # 17 with his younger brother John.

They may have known each other for a few years before they married on 29 Apr 1854 at St George Hanover Square. They purchased passage to Tasmania, Australia aboard the ship "Abberton" for £90. They sailed for Hobart Town on 25 May 1854. Harriet's brother, Benjamin Issett BULLER was supposed to sail with them, but his name is scratched off the ticket. (I have a copy of the orginal ticket)

The story is that the "Abberton" sunk on the return trip to England.

William & Harriet had 8 children in Upper Huon, Tasmania.

William died 23 Oct 1902 & Harriet followed on 22 Nov 1903
