Christ Church, Chalford was built 1724 - 25 and was much remodelled in the Romanesque style by Thomas Foster & Son of Bristol in 1840 - 41. Further alterations in 1857 included the two porches and the squat broach-spire. The fine round stone font is by Norman Jewson and was made in 1937. The large Georgian south windows of the nave were glazed by Edward Payne 1951 - 54 and incorporate both clear and stained glass. The roundel illustrated here shows the Venerable Bede at work.
