Cornwell is a small estate village on the edge of the Cotswolds.
The estate and village are owned by the Hon. Peter Ward and his family. They live in the impressive Cornwell Manor which was mentioned in the Domesday Book. The present house is predominantly 18th Century. The village was rebuilt in the 1930s by Clough Williams-Ellis. About 35 people live in the parish of Cornwell. The original village probably surrounded the church. One theory for the distance from the village to the church is that the Black Death wiped out the original village.
