St. Michael's Church at Dowdeswell is beautifully set on the slope of a hill with trees above and attractive Cotswold buildings below. The church is Cruciform in plan and was built in the 16th Century in finely dressed stone. The font is Perpendicular, an octagonal bowl with quatrefoils. On the interior walls of the church there are some fine monuments, especially the bust of William Rogers, dated 1734, which is set between columns supporting a pediment and adorned with cherubs and swags of flowers. Other members of the Rogers family are commemorated in the church; and there are tablets to the Rich family.
The inscription on the north trancept window sill - illustrated on this page - states that the broach spire of the central tower was rebuilt in 1577.
