Dyrham is tucked away in a combe in the Cotswold edge. It is a small stone village with a great house and a small church. The church has a good canopied tomb with effigies of Sir George Wynter and his wife. Sir George died in 1581. There are also carved stone relief panels featuring their eleven children. From the churchyard there is a good view of the main house and offices of Dyrham Park. These were designed by a Dutchman, Talman (the architect of Chatsworth). Dyrham Park was built in 1698.

Remnant of William Blathwayt's original water garden - the Neptune statue, the statue marks the spot where a fountain fed by springs rose six metres into the air. The water then flowed down a cascade of 224 steps to a canal lined with orange trees. By the late 18th Century this ornate style of garden had become outdated and was remodelled as a landscaped park.
