St. Peter's in its present form was built in the mid 19th Century on the site of two previous churches.
It was consecrated in 1858. It forms a striking example of a modern church built in the graceful Perpendicular style. The memorial windows in the church depict a sequence from the Annunciation to the Ascension. One window is unusual in that it depicts the church in the background.
