St. John the Baptist's is Late Norman with a low Early English west tower. This tower is of three stages with a west lancet window, and paired lancets on the top stage. The later embattled parapet has crocketed pinnacles. The restored south doorway to the church is of circa 1200, with chevron mouldings and shafts with foliage capitals. The nabe has three-bay Transitional arcades with cylindrical piers. These piers have trumpet capitals, two with embryonic stiff-leaf ornament. There are encustic tiles by Maw & Co. throughout the church. The font is Perp style, scraped, with octagonal bowl carved with quatrefoils. There is stained glass in the church by Heaton & Butler, 1858; Heaton, Butler & Bayne, 1866 and later work by that firm, 1905; Joseph Bell, 1858 and more work by his firm, 1889; and Hardman, 1880. In the churchyard there are many 18th C chest tombs; and there is a splendid view, west across the Vale of Sodbury.
