St. Kenelm's is 12th C in origin. It has transepts and a chancel extended in the 13th C. The central tower with its fairly short broach spire was inserted in the 14th C. The tower is supported by four double-chamfered arches. The interior of the church was restored in 1874 by Waller and again in 1933 by Norman Jewson. The font is 15th C and octagonal. Each face of the bowl has four circles; and each face of the stem has paired trefoil-headed niches. A lot of the elaborate woodwork in the church came from Sapperton Manor. There is stained glass by James Powell & Sons, 1922. There are some fine effigy monuments in the church commemorating Sir Henry Poole and his family; and also Sir Robert Atkyns, the author of 'The Ancient and Present State of Gloucestershire'. There are chest tombs, dating from the 17th C to the early 19th C, in the churchyard.
